China Strikes
China Strikes maps instances of labor unrest in China between 2003 and 2004 or the full Hu Jintao-Wen Jiabao administration. It draws on state media, foreign media, social media, and the websites of dissident and advocacy groups. Incidents are coded according to: industry affected, enterprise ownership type, grievances and demands, number of workers involved, and dispute outcome. Visitors to the dataset’s website can upload information on any information missed. The website, which uses the Ushahidi crowdmapping platform, can be accessed at https://chinastrikes.crowdmap.com/.
